Andrew Elf is a great example of someone who has been able develop his career quickly to becoming the CEO of an ASX listed company, Mitchell Services Limited. Growing up in South Australia and starting his career in Accounting, he developed a love for the “cut and thrust” of contracting, and in particular the drilling industry. What’s great about Andrew’s story is that he personifies someone who “uncovered the hidden job market”, by directly approaching his current Chairman and offering his services as an employee. Joining the organisation as Chief Operating Officer, within a matter of months he was offered the role of CEO. Its an inspiring conversation.
Andrew has over 15 years finance, commercial and operational experience working in various senior roles both in Australia and overseas and was a Financial Director in Indonesia for a top 100 ASX listed company before transitioning into the drilling industry in early 2004.
He held several senior roles with Boart Longyear before joining Mitchell Group in March 2010 where he spearheaded the growth of the African business to an annual turnover in excess of $30 million. He has extensive experience managing drilling companies in various regions around the world which have worked for global “Tier 1” mining and energy houses.
He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Mitchell Services Limited on 20 March 2014. Andrew has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Australia, an MBA from Deakin University, is a Graduate of the AICD and a CPA.
