You may either come from the for profit or not for profit sectors. You clearly understand the separation between board responsibilities (strategy and governance) versus executive responsibilities (operational execution). Ideally you have completed the AICD Directorship qualification (or equivalent), although this is not mandatory for consideration.
This is a fantastic opportunity to either take on a new board role in addition to your CEO responsibilities or alternatively be your stepping stone into a portfolio career.
- Provide specialist insight to the Social Impact Committee on fundraising, technology advancement, and consumer/member engagement initiatives to enhance Diabetes Australia’s impact
- Provide governance oversight for Diabetes Australia’s social impact initiatives
- Monitor alignment with Diabetes Australia’s Strategic Plan
- For Board directors, attend in-person Board meetings at least quarterly. For Committee members attend quarterly virtual Committee meetings (2-3 hours). There is also an annual in-person Strategy Day
- Support engagement with members, key stakeholders, government bodies, and the broader healthcare sector
- Uphold the highest standards of governance integrity ensuring alignment with governance best practice, for example AICD / GIA
The board meet face to face each quarter (travel expenses are covered) with additional virtual meetings as required. It is a remunerated role, commensurate with the time required. You can be based anywhere in Australia, plus they are open to industry background.
